What happened to the Jedi hunters after the Jedi were gone

The Inquisitorius was an Imperial organization made up of former members of the Jedi Order who survived Order 66 and were then turned to the dark side to be used by Emperor Sheev Palptaine as Jedi hunters. They were used to find and kill survivors of the initial wave of the Great Jedi Purge.

Information about canonical Inquisitors and their former identities can be found here: “Who were the Inquisitors in ‘Star Wars’?”. After the Jedi were thought to be extinct, the Inquisitors disappeared, many of them died, as depicted in canon, but a few of their fates are still unknown.

Spoilers ahead for multiple canon “Star Wars” works, including animated series “Star Wars: Rebels.”

“During the early years of the Empire, the red blades of the Inquisitorius cut a swath through the galaxy as they wiped any remaining traces of the Jedi Order from existence. Once the Jedi were finally considered extinct by the Empire, the Inquisitorius vanished into the darkness as well.”
Luke Skywalker, in “Star Wars: The Secrets of the Jedi”

Unidentified Inquisitors

Two unidentified Inquisitors, a red-skinned female and a male Twi’lek, first appear in the comic book “Darth Vader: Dark Lord of the Sith 19” as they join Darth Vader to hunt former Jedi Master Eeth Koth.

After killing Koth and taking his newborn baby as a part of Project Harvester, Vader and the Inquisitors returned to the Inquisitorius headquarters. The Inquisitors then went to celebrate. While talking, Vader approaches and ignites his lightsaber, sensing their connection. Vader hunted them down and killed them both.

In the game “Star Wars: Uprising” there is an Inquisitor who is sent to Anoat to hunt Jedi survivors. It is unclear if this Inquisitor is a different character from the already established Inquisitors. If this character is different from the other Inquisitors who have been depicted in canon, then it is unknown what happened to this character or how long they lived.

There is an unidentified female Inquisitor who took a Dathomirian female, Jerserra, as an apprentice, first shown in the 2017 book “Ghosts of Dathomir.” The unidentified Inquisitor was later killed by Jerserra.

Tenth Brother

The Tenth Brother was a member of the Jedi Order and held the rank of Jedi Master before being inducted into the Order of the Inquisitors. He first appeared in the comic book “Jedi of the Republic — Mace Windu 1.”

Though he survived the Great Jedi Purge, he still was executed due to Order 66 when he was hunting a Jedi on Mon Cala with Darth Vader. Padawan Fenn Barr used a mind trick on the Purge Troopers with the Inquisitors to execute Order 66 on the fallen Jedi, killing the Tenth Brother.

The Ninth Sister first appeared in the comic book “Darth Vader: Dark Lord of the Sith 6.” She later appears in the video game “Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order” as one of the Inquisitors hunting Cal Kestis.

When first encountering Kestis, the Ninth Sister chased him in her ship, but then the Shyyyo bird drove the ship away. She later finds Kestis at the Shyyyo bird’s nest, where she attacks. While dueling Kestis on the Origin Tree on Kashyyyk, Kestis managed to cut off her right hand and then push her out of the nest.

It is not confirmed whether the Ninth Sister died on Kashyyyk after being pushed out of the Shyyyo bird’s nest, so she could have survived.

Eighth Brother

The Eighth Brother first appeared and then died in the second season finale of “Rebels.” After he encountered Ahsoka Tano, Maul, Kanan Karrus and Ezra Bridger on Malachor, Jarrus damaged the Eighth Brother’s lightsaber.

While attempting to flee by using his lightsaber’s spinning blades to slow his fall, the Eighth Brother’s weapon broke and he fell to his death.

The Sixth Brother first appeared in the novel “Ahsoka” and appeared in multiple issues of the comic book series “Star Wars: Darth Vader: Dark Lord of the Sith.”

The Sixth Brother pursued former Jedi Ahsoka Tano, and on Raada, the Sixth Brother encountered her. Tano, who was constructing new lightsabers, heard the kyber crystals in the Sixth Brother’s lightsaber and she used the Force to pull them out, causing the lightsaber to become unstable, which then exploded and killed the Sixth Brother, as depicted in the “Ahsoka” novel.

The Second Sister, a former padawan in the Jedi Order, turned to the dark side and became an Inquisitor, first appearing in the comic book “Darth Vader: Dark Lord of the Sith 19.” She then appeared in the video game “Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order.”

The Second Sister hunted the crew of the Mantis, including Cal Kestis. During “Jedi: Fallen Order,” she acquired a holocron with a list of Force-sensitive younglings, and Kestis followed her to the Inquisitorius’ headquarters on Nur.

Kestis defeated the Second Sister, and former Jedi Knight Cere Junda attempted to redeem the Second Sister, who was her padawan when they were in the Jedi Order. The Second Sister began to feel ashamed, but then she was executed by Darth Vader before she could forgive Junda.

The Grand Inquisitor

Source: Disney/Lucasfilm

First appearing in “Star Wars: Rebels,” the Grand Inquisitor was the first Inquisitor introduced and was the main antagonist during season one of “Rebels.”

Throughout the season he hunted the Ghost crew and Kanan Jarrus, a survivor of the Purge, and his padawan Ezra Bridger. After the Grand Inquisitor and Grand Moff Wilhuff Tarkin were able to capture Jarrus, they brought him to Mustafar so they could get information from him about the rebels.

The Ghost crew launches a rescue mission, and the Grand Inquisitor dueled against Jarrus and Bridger. Jarrus was able to best the Inquisitor, and rather than face the wrath of Darth Vader for his repeated failures, he chose to fall to his death.

You have no idea what you’ve unleashed here today. There are some things far more frightening than death.”
The Grand Inquisitor to Kanan Jarrus, in the “Star Wars: Rebels” season one finale

Though there are two Inquisitors whose fates are unknown, and likely more Inquisitors who have not been depicted in canon yet, the Order of the Inquisitors disappeared, largely by the events of “A New Hope.”
